Nuix SaaS

We aim to build a solution that carries Nuix as a company into the future.

Making all of Nuix's software available via the cloud is more than just a delivery mechanism, but a new way of doing business. That implies not only a tech-stack for running it on cloud (AWS) infrastructure, but also a business transformation.

The Project Challenge

Speed to Review:

  • Objective: Enable customers to understand data as quickly as possible.

  • Solution: Streamline the data processing phase to focus on swift data review.

Simplifying Working with Nuix:

  • Objective: Eliminate the need for expensive hardware, complex software installations, and extensive configurations.

  • Solution: Provide a cloud-based subscription model, allowing users to simply point at their data and begin their review.

The Future of Nuix:

  • Objective: Transform Nuix’s business model to improve agility and innovation.

  • Solution: Transition to a SaaS model to enhance the delivery of innovative solutions to both existing and new markets.

Introduction

Nuix SaaS was a transformative project designed to move all of Nuix’s software to the cloud, providing a modern and scalable solution for our customers. This transition aimed to simplify user interactions with our products and ensure quick, efficient data review.

Research Insights

  • User Pain Points: Identified common frustrations with the existing system, such as the complexity of setup and the need for rapid data processing.

  • Best Practices: Adopted industry standards for SaaS applications to ensure a user-friendly experience.

Through extensive user feedback sessions and research, we gathered invaluable insights:

The Design Process

For the Nuix SaaS project, I led the design process to transition all Nuix software to the cloud, marking a significant step forward for the company. This involved not only creating a new tech stack but also driving a complete business transformation.

Team Collaboration:

  • Mentorship: Guided a junior designer in Australia, ensuring effective collaboration despite the time zone difference from my location on the US East Coast.

  • User Feedback: Conducted multiple feedback sessions, gathering insights to iterate and refine the designs.

Design Approach:

  • Design System: Utilized Nomi, the Nuix design system, and established design patterns to create an intuitive and cohesive user interface.

  • Consistency: Ensured a consistent user experience across the platform by aligning with Nuix’s design ethos.

User flows

The user flows illustrate the step-by-step journey our users take, highlighting key interactions and touchpoints throughout the experience.

Prototype

The prototype for the Nuix SaaS project demonstrates a streamlined and user-friendly interface designed to simplify key workflows. Key features include:

  • Case Management: Create, read, update, delete (CRUD) processes for managing cases, including archiving and restoring.

  • Case Review: Easily open a case to review data.

  • Data Management: Utilize sorting and filters for efficient data management.

  • Workflow Templates: Manage workflow templates with options to create, edit, duplicate, and delete templates.

This prototype underscores our commitment to delivering a seamless and intuitive user experience, leveraging the power of the cloud.

Conclusion

The Nuix SaaS project exemplifies our dedication to creating intuitive, user-centered designs that enhance functionality and user satisfaction. By leveraging user feedback and iterative design processes, we ensured that the platform met the diverse needs of our users. The use of Nomi, our design system, guaranteed a consistent and cohesive user interface across all features. Our focus on seamless workflows, efficient data management, and flexible customization options underscores our commitment to delivering an exceptional user experience. This project not only modernized our delivery mechanism but also transformed the way users interact with our software, setting a new standard for future innovations.
