Nuix Investigate Redesign

By redesigning the Nuix Investigate platform, we achieved a remarkable 213% increase in adoption.

This success was driven by a comprehensive focus on industry needs and user experience, ensuring the platform met the evolving demands of our users.

Initial Assessment

To begin the redesign process, I conducted a thorough UX assessment of the current interface. I identified several issues:

  • Cluttered Layout: The interface was crowded with numerous small panels stacked on top of each other, creating a confusing and inefficient workspace.

  • Excessive Scrolling: Many panels featured small scroll bars, making navigation cumbersome and negatively impacting the user experience.

User-Centered Redesign

Understanding that effective redesign starts with the users, I took the following steps:

1. User Research:

  • Engaged with subject-matter experts to determine the most frequently used areas of the platform.

  • Gathered insights on user pain points and preferences to inform the redesign process.

2. Wireframes and Prototypes:

  • Created initial wireframes that addressed the identified issues and aligned with user needs.

  • Presented these wireframes to product managers and subject matter experts for feedback.

  • Iterated on the designs based on their input to refine the concepts further.

3. Design System Creation:

  • Developed a comprehensive design system to ensure consistency and efficiency throughout the redesign.

  • This design system included standardized components, color schemes, typography, and interaction patterns.

Collaboration and Implementation

To ensure a smooth implementation of the redesign, I worked closely with various teams:

Engineering Teams:

  • Presented the finalized designs to the engineering teams.

  • Collaborated with them to ensure the feasibility of the designs and addressed any technical constraints.

Product Managers and Scrum Masters:

  • Worked with PMs and scrum masters to create detailed tickets and establish phases for the redesign process.

  • Ensured that the project timeline was realistic and achievable, facilitating effective execution and timely delivery.

Outcomes

The redesigned Nuix Investigate platform resulted in a 213% increase in adoption, demonstrating the impact of user-centered design and cross-functional collaboration. By focusing on user needs, simplifying the interface, and ensuring consistency through a design system, we created a platform that is both intuitive and efficient, meeting the evolving demands of our users.
